Assistant City Engineer/ Assistant Public Works Director 

JOB SUMMARY:    Provides administrative assistance to the Public Works Director for several major components of the City’s municipal services.  Performs a variety of complex administrative and technical work in the assistance of administering policies and programs in the areas of streets, drainage, engineering, water, sewer, parks, fleet and building maintenance, operation, construction, and inspection.  Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:   Bachelor’s Degree in engineering; Engineering in Training Certification.  Preferred – Professional Engineer Registration.

Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.  Copy of degree and /or certification must be submitted with application. 

Salary: $63,253 to $90,085 DOE

Accounting Clerk 

JOB SUMMARY:    Performs administrative clerical work to verify, maintain and reconcile general ledger, payroll, financial documents and payable transactions.  Performs general clerical functions in support of all activities with the Finance Dept.; processes financial information and reconciles work; matches invoices with purchase orders; maintains files in both paper and electronic formats; processes cash and check payments for deposit or refund; assists in preparing request for bid proposals and other bid documents.   Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:   High School Diploma or equivalent required.  Completion of 15-20 hours of college course work preferred.  Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.  Two (2) years’ experience in an accounting related field and knowledge of contract law and State and Federal purchasing policies preferred; knowledge of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance programs and procedures preferred.

Salary: $17.65/hour

Dispatcher 

JOB SUMMARY:  Provides administrative support work to provide an electronic and spoken communication link between citizens and public safety personnel.  Responds to incoming emergency and non-emergency telephone calls for police and fire services.  Acquires information from citizens and outside sources to initiate appropriate action by public safety personnel.  Communicates information by speaking over two-way radios and by entering information into computer.  Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:   High School Diploma or equivalent required.  Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.  Must obtain TCLEOSE Telecommunication Operator’s Certification as a condition of continued employment.

Salary: $17.65/hour

Combination Building Inspector 

JOB SUMMARY:    Enforces City Codes and Ordinances by monitoring areas of the City, conducting daily inspections; and advising contractors and citizens about how to come into compliance.  Inspects construction on new or existing structures.  Enforcement of minimal building codes.  Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:   High school diploma or equivalent required.  3 years related experience in all areas of building construction required.  Coursework in areas such as plumbing, electrical and air conditioning work are preferred.

Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.  

Salary: $19.09/hour
